MAKING LIFE COUNT!

How would you feel if you woke up to find that you are 70 years old with so many regrets?

MAKING LIFE COUNT!

How would you feel if you woke up one morning only to find that you are 70 years old with so many regrets?

Well too many people engage in mindless indulgences they call career or work, they walk around the streets with little or no clue why they exist! Some even work in banks, government organizations and private enterprises, yet they have no clue what they should be doing or why they are doing what they are doing. They do this day in day out, year in year out, without the barest feel of fulfillment or even joy, only to find out too late that they would rather have done something else or done it a different way.

When I was much younger, I, like many of you, used to ask my parents so many questions ranging from intelligent to not so intelligent ones like; why do I have to brush my teeth? Why is the moon full tonight? Why are there just 26 alphabets? … Well that is one of the ways we learn. However, it also gives us a sense of purpose, in that, now, It just comes naturally to me, I know exactly why I should brush my teeth and the consequences of not brushing, hence I don’t need to be cajoled or pampered to do so.

Now brushing ones teeth is just a minute part of life, if we think it is important for kids to know the essence of brushing, how much more a full life. Everyone should understand that there is an innate ability, a gift, an inward yearning screaming on the inside, hoping to find expression, one that could make a huge difference in life, however, often times than not, we allow fear, insecurities, status quo, friends and even family to keep it mute until it no longer has a voice and maybe dies eventually.

Why stick your nose in a professional program just because it’s what your parents expect or burry your head in a job just because you need to measure up with your friends when truly, you ought to and would rather be elsewhere. Well this is what John F Kennedy has to say to you “efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction”. Stop wasting that precious life; every moment counts for that bit of purpose that is achieved. Besides, every second that goes by, is gone forever.  Don’t just get a job done, get YOUR job done. Don’t just live life, make it count!

I know of a sweet lady, who is so passionate about kids, she left the office to a class room at a time when almost everyone wanted to be in the office. When asked why, she said “at the office, I just feel like I’m wasting away but here, I’m happy”. She didn’t think about the comfort she forfeited or what people would say, and I can tell you that even her children were not happy at first until they found out it was an issue of purpose. Today, she knows that at retirement, she would have no regrets.
My point; there is nothing like knowing what you are doing and doing it because you know it’s what you should be doing, something you are happy doing and you are making positive impart doing. Now that is called a life of purpose.

So the next time you think you have a life just because you earn a wage, have a roof over your head and can help yourself, remember that every Tom, Dick and Harry can do that. The next time you think you have a life just because you bore kids, remember that even goats bear kids. Life is empty without purpose. Learn to ask yourself real questions; who am I? What do I want? How can I contribute to life without feeling so bothered? That might spur you into finding purpose.

Imagine if everyone is doing what they ought to be doing, what they enjoy doing…there would be so much happiness in the atmosphere, you wouldn’t know the spelling of strife or wrath. I know change is a lot, having a paradigm shift is enormous, but think about the benefits so that when you clock 70, you would be just satisfied and happy as though you had a full life ahead of you.

Nothing, I mean nothing, not money, not friends, not family is worth discarding purpose for. However, on the path of purpose, you will gain all these and more, genuinely. Making your life count must be deliberate, it’s not a bucket of ice cream, I must say, but the fruits are beautiful, sweet, and long lasting. Don’t trade it for anything.

Finally, in the words of Srikumar Rao, “ I believe that if you don't derive a deep sense of purpose from what you do, if you don't come radiantly alive several times a day, if you don't feel deeply grateful at the tremendous good fortune that has been bestowed on you, then you are wasting your life. And life is too short to waste”! Make your life count, yes, you can!

It continues ....

AND LIVE IN JUST AND TRUTH…After all said and done, we will have no choice than to live in justice and truth. Justice for the poor and oppressed, justice at every level. It shall be a time where we call a spade a spade regardless of whose ox is gored, because the truth is now evident and active. I pray the God of creation to bring us to this point.

GREAT LOFTY HEIGHTS ATTAINED…We struggle to gain knowledge, wealth, influence, fame and every good thing life has to offer, then we take off to the land of opportunities and give it all to a stranger who already has more than enough and could care less. This we do all our lives till we are carried back home stone cold and ready to reunite with the earth. What a waste! A solution can only be necessary in a place where there is the need. Hence whatever you do, wherever you go, whoever you become, remember that you have a home that lacks something you can provide. The creator is not stupid, when we arrive lofty heights at some point; it is because he has empowered us…

TO BUILD A NATION WHERE PEACE AND JUSTICE SHALL REIGN…it’s in you, in me, in us; the ability to build. Let’s stop tearing down and turning our own country into a waste land. It’s time to build, Nigerian youth, it’s time! Start where you are, by picking up that litter and dumping it in the right place, by telling the truth even if it hurts, by showing love even when it’s not convenient…decide today, to live by integrity, in love and honesty, in justice and truth, decide to call on the God of creation for He alone can lead us to fulfill our noble cause.

If you believe in prayers, if you have ever had a prayer answered, then this is your chance but if you don’t believe in answered prayers then I guess this is not your call. Let us work as we strengthen our faith in prayer to the God of creation who alone can lead us through to our noble cause, right up to our promise land. I’m sure we all want to get there, though some don’t believe in it, but what choice do we have when we have no option? After we’ve done all we can, we surely won’t mind trying out this last resort. Let courage rise with danger for only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.

On our nation...

A New Perspective as we get ready to mark another Independence.

Have you ever recited something to the point where you could do it in your sleep? Well I have. For instance the prayer to bless my food; I got so used to it, I didn’t bother so much about what it meant any more, I just said it as a routine that I grew up with, and as long as I said it, I was ready to eat. However not attaching importance to it turned it from a prayer to a mere recitation causing it to lose its meaning to me. Sometimes we get to do things mindlessly, meaning our minds are absent. We just do it either because we are told to or because we don’t have a choice, hence we do it hurriedly, sometimes clumsily just as long as it is done.

Well I can say that about the Nigerian national anthem, it’s the second verse, to be precise.  While some have forgotten that it exists, others remember it partially and the few, who remember it vividly, don’t even have a clue what it’s about. Over the years, I’ve come to wish this was the first stanza because the words just go way beyond the surface to a place that only divinity can take one. It’s a prayer, a very sincere prayer from the heart that I believe if we had understood its essence all these years, and prayed it in sincerity rather than in mindless recitation, would have taken us way further than where we are now. Join me as I take an insightful journey through the second stanza of our prestigious Nigerian National Anthem.

Oh God of creation

Direct our noble cause

Guide thou our leaders right

Help our youth the truth to know

In love and honesty to grow

And live in just and truth

Great lofty heights attained

To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign

This is what I believe it says…

OH GOD OF CREATION…ever wondered about the phrase “in God we trust”? May not be ours originally but the truth remains that every man on the surface of the earth has a sub conscious knowing that God exists and relates either directly or indirectly.
We Nigerians have chosen to be direct in our relation. As a nation under God, we deliberately call on Him to…

DIRECT OUR NOBLE CAUSE…every individual has aspirations, we all have dreams of what our country should be, and though not everyone has the same dream (some being negative, others positive), there is one that is true and pure; our noble cause – “to build a nation where peace and justice shall reign”. I pray to the God of creation that this cause finds expression and fulfillment in my day.

GUIDE OUR LEADERS RIGHT…as the body cannot exist without a head, so a nation cannot exist without a leadership. However, if the head goes wrong, the whole body has no choice than to follow. Hence we pray that our leaders be guided by the God of creation so that we can go in the right path to achieve our noble cause.

HELP OUR YOUTHS THE TRUTH TO KNOW…the pure and undiluted truth, truth not bended, not watered down or edited but the truth about life. Isn’t it obvious that there is only one truth? Indeed, chosen to to bring light to every dark and grey area so that we can see clearly the way to achieving our noble cause. But what becomes of a man who throws his lamp aside in the dark? He gropes for so long, probably never find his way. We are surrounded by so many lies, lies that we have built by ourselves and now they are so many, they have formed a prison wall around us. Now we sit inside the walls of our prison wondering how to get out…remember that the only remedy to lies is the truth! So we pray to the God of creation to help our youths know the truth; because the truth brings light and the light gives insight to the vision of the young man who is ready to run but for the lack of focus and direction which only the truth can give. We have groped enough; it’s time to switch on the light of truth.

On morals and values...

I believe there's a lot going wrong with this generation; there is a great erosion of our morals and values. This erosion is as a result of various reasons which, I believe includes 'taking civilization to the extreme' regardless of the outcome. Well I'm really worried, i don't know about you, but if you see what i see, maybe you would be. I'd like us to discuss, starting with this...

My Opinion on Virginity (Female)
Traditionally, a gift comes in a box, with ribbons tied around it to form a bow. when one begins to fiddle with the bow, it means they want it off so as to unwrap the gift in order to access it's contents.
This goes to you ladies, if you are not ready to give out that gift, don't let him fiddle with the bow, it may come off easier than you think. Do not awaken love until it so desires. On the other hand, you have got to be married to be ready for your gift to be unwrapped (marriage is honorable with the bed undefiled).
Virginity is a gift from God, it's cool and still very much in vogue with an irresistible swag. If you say it is out dated, you are indirectly saying God is, because it is one of his express commandments to flee fornication. Keep it until it's time. But just in case your gift has been taken, do not despair, neither cheapen yourself any further, rather salvage what is left of your dignity. It matters still and is important to the one you finally end up with. It possible! Want to know what I think about. His grace is sufficient.
                                                                                                                                                  Jude 24.
This is my opinion but I'd like to know what you think about virginity, I just might see it in a new light you know...
